Becoming more positive in 2 easy ways!

Ritter, my youngest, woke up this am and he's the kid that is ready to go the minute his little eyes open! So, I grabbed his vitamins and handed him some yogurt but before I let him go watch cartoons I asked him what his affirmations for the day were. He responded with "I am cute! I am funny! I am HAPPY!"
Okay, I must admit a little that every time he gives me his affirmations it brings a tear to my eye but there is usually a little coaching involved...I give him examples of some things he could say but that was different today. He gave me his affirmations all on his own! No coaching involved! AND he said "I AM HAPPY!" Isn't that what we all want? To be happy? I know that's the case for me. I once read something that said: "I was once given an assignment to explain what I wanted to be when I grew up and I wrote down 'Happy.' The teacher replied 'You didn't understand the assignment' and I replied 'You must not understand life.'"

Negativity can creep into our lives and legitimately take over. It's no joke. It's starts out harmless- complaining about lack of sleep or our busy schedules then slowly but surely it starts to be all we have to think and/or talk about. Think about it for yourself. When you wake up do you start your day out with gratitude or do you complain about what time it is, how early it is, how tired you are, how much you have to do for the day, etc... What are you putting out there if all you're doing is complaining- negative energy!

Well, I'm here to tell you that if you can just incorporate 2 things during your day that you could start to change your cycle of thoughts.
1) Start your day with gratitude and/or affirmations!

You do know how important affirmations are, right? It's literally you speaking the future and putting what you want out into the world! Claiming your life! Taking control. Taking charge. Creating your happiness, your success, your life- the way you want it. Affirmations AND gratitude can help to completely turn around your life.

By waking up and saying "Thank you, God, for this beautiful amazing day!" or "I am going to have an amazing day today!" can completely change your outlook and energy from the second your feet touch the ground!

2) Ending your day with gratitude!

At the end of the day if you just take 2 minutes to think about all the great things that happened to you during the day- You didn't have to wait in line at the grocery store, you made it to the workout class you've been wanting to try, your kids ate their dinner, you started a project, you completed a project, you had 5 minutes to chill on the couch with your feet up, etc... THEN give thanks for your most appreciative one of those things! I actually make my kids do this- last night Emil's was "I am SO SO SO thankful we got to go to that super cool playset, mom! It was so fun!!" (that was actually mine too:))

Starting and ending your day with gratitude and positive energy will help you to create a more positive outlook in life. From there you can begin to develop other habits to help you stay on track throughout the day (ex: anytime a negative thought creeps into your mind replace it with a positive one!).

You guys, we TRAIN our mind. You are in control- even though sometimes it feels like you've spiraled out into a place of no control you can get back on track. Take charge. Incorporate these two small acts and I promise things will begin to change for you.

Something worth Celebrating!

Well, as it happens to most families with young children that start school, our family got the sick bug. We've all had it but Ritter is the OG, the one who contacted the cold and shared it with the rest of us. I started feeling bad Friday and am finally feeling better, almost like my normal self, TODAY! So, I celebrate! Seriously, why not? I am a working mom! I'm running an entire household and I've been sick! That is NO FUN! Like, none. And, sidenote, I think mom's shouldn't be allowed to get sick. Just sayin'. I celebrate because I have felt terrible the last few days (and, as most moms do, felt terrible that I felt terrible- which is annoying- why do we do that?!) and NOW- FINALLY- I'm feeling better! Good enough to refocus on my schedule, goals and recognize all that I can accomplish! Yes! I celebrate.  But why do I share this with you? Well, because I feel like, as women, we mostly are getting on to ourselves, putting ourselves down, feeling guilt...

Simply happy.....

Over the past year we have worked really hard to make things happen.... I am feeling so accomplished at this time because things are really starting to pan out. This is a great feeling... Not only that but I have really grown to realize over the past few years how incredibly blessed I am. I have always been a very thankful person but as I grow older I become even more thankful... I have an absolutely amazing husband. He loves me so much....I know that. I'm really lucky to have him in my life... I know he will always stand beside me and love me with all his heart. I have a wonderful family... there are so many people in my family and not many people can say that. They are all really great people and I love the close bond that we share... I am so blessed...yet again. Finally, I have great friends. They are loving, caring people. Although I have been extremely busy this summer and haven't been able to spend as much time with them we still are close and I love them al...
